Hi, I'm Jessica, certified birth Doula in Zoetermeer and surrounding areas.

Maternity care has stolen my heart and I love nothing more than helping (prospective) parents get a wonderful start in expanding their family. I am informal but professional, serious but not boring, strong but not sullen, soft but not vague. Before I became a Doula, I worked for years in youth and family care, with children and parents of all ages. I take this experience with me into who I am as a person and Doula. Age, orientation, gender, family composition, physical or mental challenges, I do not see them as a problem or limitation. I approach you as I would like to be approached: respectful, equal, loving and loyal. And if it can't be done the way it 'should' be, then it should be done the way it can be done! Together (with the obstetrician and gynecologist preferably included as much as possible) we investigate what is possible and how. "No is not necessarily an answer" I sometimes say, which of course puts the health of mother and child and the wishes of the parent(s) first. You can ask anything and I don't think anything is strange!

Communication and collaboration are my strengths and people describe me as sweet, caring and decisive. In tense or emotional moments I keep my cool without being distant. I am knowledgeable, respectful and non-judgmental. Even after an unpleasant or frightening experience, it is possible to have a pleasant birth. I am there for you, even when you are afraid or angry. I will be as present as is desirable for you when your labor has started. It is therefore very possible to have a Doula at your birth, without it feeling like she is there!

The training I followed at the Doula Academy pays specific attention to clinical knowledge. As a result, I know the language and protocols of midwives, gynecologists and nurses in the hospital and I can inform (and show!) how the waters are broken, for example, or what a balloon looks like. In addition to this clinical knowledge, I also have everything you need to properly prepare you for a home birth. Whatever birth it will be, I will support you and stay with you.

I have two daughters myself, aged 14 and 16, and we live together in Zoetermeer. My eldest daughter's pregnancy did not occur naturally and after more than a year of trying, I finally became pregnant via IUI. Her breech birth was the icing on the cake ;-) so I can also talk about that. But, the most important thing when choosing your Doula is the click you feel and that is something only you can determine. If I am not the right person for you, I will be happy to help you find a fellow Doula. The Doula world is full of beautiful, passionate and skilled women and we wish all pregnant women the best and the best! If you like who I am, send me a message and we will make an appointment for a click conversation.

I look forward to getting to know you and maybe I can be your Doula!
